The inspiration behind my Lew Lew metal striped boxes

Like many designers, Amanda pulls design inspiration from her childhood, which starts with her mother. Her Holiday 2022 collection started with a memory of beautiful handmade wrapping her mother would use when gifting friends and family. Read about Amanda's inspiration for her new collection below.

I have not written so much about my beloved mother though I have spoken about her when chatting about my design DNA. She was, to put it simply, the chicest person in our town and in the whole universe and orbit as I saw it as a child. My grown-up universe/orbit agrees, by the way. Her creative aptitude is what inspired the decorative metal boxes in our new collection.

Tall, exceptionally lean, edited and modern, Lew Lew was a phenomenon of beauty and opinions. A Winston Light 100 in one hand the other on the wheel of her 1960's Corvair convertible,  Lew Lew had her personal initials painted on the Driver's Door and our children's initials painted on the Passenger Door. I was raised by a serious Style Diva.

My mother was gifted at all the creative gestures she focused on. She wrote beautifully, she watercolored, she sewed and crocheted and she made every single thing beautiful in her path.

Lew Lew started making beautiful bow baskets and ultimately beautiful striped scalloped topped bow metal boxes on our back loggia when I was in college. It was her side hustle from parenting!

I wanted to include my rendition of these beautiful decorative metal boxes in our new collection. Aptly named after my mother, our Lew Lew decorative metal boxes are the perfect addition to our holiday collection and will make a beautiful statement piece for your home during the festive season.
